Journey highlights
This 3-day mid city break introduces you to the very best of Cairo, crafted by Egypt Stay & Tours' specialists with over 20 years of Egypt expertise. From the moment your private chauffeur greets you at the airport to your final farewell, every detail has been considered. You'll travel with an expert Egyptologist (or local equivalent) who brings ancient history to life, stay in carefully selected mid accommodations, and experience moments most travellers miss.
Unlike generic group tours, this itinerary is fully customisable. Add experiences, extend stays, upgrade hotels, or adjust the pace — we tailor every journey to suit your style. With 24/7 in-country support, transparent pricing, and direct relationships with all suppliers (including our own seven hotels in Egypt), you'll experience Egypt the way it should be experienced: seamlessly, authentically, and without compromise.
Egyptologist's note
Three days in Cairo is the right length for the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum (or GEM), Saqqara/Memphis, and Khan el-Khalili — without rushing. This is the standard add-on for travellers extending a Red Sea or Mediterranean trip, and it is also the right length for a stand-alone weekend if you only have a long flight window in mind.
The three-day structure is usually: Day 1 — Pyramids of Giza + Sphinx + Solar Boat Museum; Day 2 — Egyptian Museum + Coptic Cairo + Khan el-Khalili; Day 3 — Saqqara + Dahshur + Memphis. With a guide, this covers about 70% of what the average first-time traveller wants from Cairo.
Historical context
Saqqara and Dahshur are older than the Giza Pyramids — Saqqara's Step Pyramid (Djoser, 27th century BCE) is the oldest stone monument of its size in the world, and the Bent and Red Pyramids at Dahshur (Sneferu, 26th century BCE) are the engineering experiments that immediately preceded Khufu's Great Pyramid at Giza.
Insider tip from your guide
Do Saqqara and Dahshur as the third day, not the first. After two days inside Cairo and at Giza, the engineering progression from Step Pyramid → Bent Pyramid → Red Pyramid → Great Pyramid finally clicks chronologically.
Meet your representative at Cairo Airport, private transfer to hotel. Welcome briefing with your Egyptologist guide. Evening at leisure.
