Journey highlights
This 8-day mid classic introduces you to the very best of Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, crafted by Egypt Stay & Tours' specialists with over 20 years of Egypt expertise. From the moment your private chauffeur greets you at the airport to your final farewell, every detail has been considered. You'll travel with an expert Egyptologist (or local equivalent) who brings ancient history to life, stay in carefully selected mid accommodations, and experience moments most travellers miss.
Unlike generic group tours, this itinerary is fully customisable. Add experiences, extend stays, upgrade hotels, or adjust the pace — we tailor every journey to suit your style. With 24/7 in-country support, transparent pricing, and direct relationships with all suppliers (including our own seven hotels in Egypt), you'll experience Egypt the way it should be experienced: seamlessly, authentically, and without compromise.
Egyptologist's note
Eight days is the classic Egypt sample plate: enough to stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid, walk the Karnak hypostyle, sail the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, and still leave Cairo with the Egyptian Museum properly seen — not skimmed. This is the route most first-time visitors take, and for good reason. The choreography between Old Kingdom Giza, New Kingdom Thebes, and Ptolemaic Aswan tells the long story of a civilisation in chronological order, with the Nile itself as the moving classroom.
You stay land-side in Cairo, then change pace entirely on a four-night cruise where sites are reached by short coach transfer from the dock — Karnak and Luxor temples on the east bank; the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon on the west. Edfu's well-preserved Temple of Horus and the dual sanctuary of Sobek and Haroeris at Kom Ombo break the sailing days.
Historical context
The itinerary follows the spine of pharaonic Egypt: Old Kingdom royal necropolis at Giza (4th dynasty, c. 2580–2510 BCE), New Kingdom power centre at Thebes (18th–20th dynasties, c. 1550–1077 BCE), and the southern frontier at Aswan where Ptolemaic and Nubian influences converge. Edfu and Kom Ombo are Greco-Roman period (3rd century BCE onward) and feel structurally complete because they were largely buried — and therefore protected — until 19th-century excavation.
Insider tip from your guide
Ask your Egyptologist to switch the Saqqara stop from the standard Step Pyramid loop to the recently re-opened Tomb of Wahtye if it is on rotation — the colour preservation is the best in the necropolis.
Meet your representative at Cairo Airport, private transfer to hotel. Welcome briefing with your Egyptologist guide. Evening at leisure.
