About this journey

This 10-day ultra-luxury luxury introduces you to the very best of Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, crafted by Egypt Stay & Tours' specialists with over 20 years of Egypt expertise. From the moment your private chauffeur greets you at the airport to your final farewell, every detail has been considered. You'll travel with an expert Egyptologist (or local equivalent) who brings ancient history to life, stay in carefully selected ultra-luxury accommodations, and experience moments most travellers miss.

Unlike generic group tours, this itinerary is fully customisable. Add experiences, extend stays, upgrade hotels, or adjust the pace — we tailor every journey to suit your style. With 24/7 in-country support, transparent pricing, and direct relationships with all suppliers (including our own seven hotels in Egypt), you'll experience Egypt the way it should be experienced: seamlessly, authentically, and without compromise.

Egyptologist's note

What this trip really shows you

Ten days at the upper end of the comfort scale: Mena House at the Pyramids, Sofitel Old Cataract in Aswan (where Agatha Christie wrote part of 'Death on the Nile'), and a five-star cruiser between them. The itinerary is the Cairo-Luxor-Aswan-Abu Simbel classic; what you're paying for is the room, the meal, and the pace.

Historical context

The Old Cataract opened in 1899 to serve British and Egyptian aristocracy on Cook's tours. Mena House opened in 1869 as a hunting lodge for the Khedive Ismail. Both have hosted heads of state, royalty, and (Mena House) the 1943 Allied conference that planned the Italian campaign. Staying at them is partly an Egypt experience and partly a Belle-Époque-tourism experience.

What you'll experience

  • Three nights Mena House Marriott with pyramid-view room
  • Five-star Nile cruiser (M/S Oberoi Philae or equivalent) for four nights
  • Two nights Sofitel Old Cataract with Nile-and-Elephantine view
  • Private guide for every site, no group joining
  • Abu Simbel by morning flight
  • Final-night Cairo at Four Seasons Nile Plaza or Marriott Mena House

Insider tip from your guide

At the Old Cataract, request the 'Agatha Christie Suite' formally if available, but don't pay the surcharge if it isn't — the standard Nile-view rooms have the same view and the same balconies, and the suite décor is polarising.

Best for

Couples celebrating an anniversary or honeymoonTravellers used to five-star European hotels who want equivalent in EgyptRepeat Egypt visitors who've done the lower tier and want the upgradeAnyone who has read 'Death on the Nile' and wants the actual hotel
